LCA internet broadcasting rules

Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) proposes promulgation of the Lesotho Communications Authority (Internet Broadcasting) Rules, 2020.

As stated on the LCA website, "The objective of the proposed Rules is to make provision for regulation of internet broadcasting and content distributed over the internet. The proposed Rules define internet broadcasting as internet posts accessible to at least one hundred (100) internet users in Lesotho, whether individually or in a series, and internet posts by users who have more than one hundred (100) followers in Lesotho."

Internet Society Lesotho is against the proposed rules as they pose a threat to freedom of speech, and will be submitting its comments to the Regulator to show its stand on this. The response will also be published here on the website — be on the lookout for the full response.
