Internet Society is a global cause-driven organization governed by a diverse Board of Trustees that is dedicated to ensuring that the Internet stays open, transparent and defined by you.
We're fostering an open, secure, and accessible Internet in Lesotho — advancing Internet governance, cybersecurity, digital literacy, and digital rights awareness to empower communities and support the country's digital infrastructure development.
In the Internet’s short history, we have already witnessed attempts to shut down or limit discussions on key issues such as network neutrality, or to re-frame the implications of policies, such as those that relate to cybersecurity. What we learn repeatedly is that the best and most lasting solutions are ones that we arrive at through cooperation and mutual respect, that are rooted in principle, and that open the door to innovation.
Our programs span policy advocacy, technical infrastructure, and community education across Lesotho.
Representing Lesotho's voice at the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and shaping policy that keeps the Internet open for everyone.
Advocating for strong encryption standards that protect Basotho users' privacy and security online.
Building local capacity to respond to emerging cybersecurity threats and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Running hands-on hackathons that grow Lesotho's next generation of security researchers and developers.
Supporting the Lesotho Internet Exchange Point project to keep local traffic local, faster, and cheaper.
Tackling technology-facilitated gender-based violence through awareness, policy, and survivor support.
